Our 2017 Final Event at Morton Stadium

The Final Event of Marathonkids Ireland 2017 Programme took place on Thursday, Nov 30th at Morton Stadium in Swords.

For the occasion, over 40 schools and 2,400 children from both Fingal and South Dublin County Council ran the final mile of Marathonkids Ireland 8-week programme.

Among others, the event was attended by Marathonkids Ireland ambassador and 2-times 400m European Champion David Gillick, Fingal Mayor Mary McCamley and Chief Executive Paul Reid, and South Dublin Mayor Paul Gogerty.

Over 60 schools and 4,000 kids enrolled in the 8-week programme. Guided by their teachers, they learned about the importance of exercising and eating healthy through an interactive and engaging approach.

Marathonkids Ireland (https://marathonkidsireland.ie) is a fitness programme for 4th-6th grade students in Ireland. The programme aims at promoting physical activity among students and fighting child obesity.

South Dublin, along with Fingal, was one of the selected County Councils for the launch of the programme, which was also supported by SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon.
