Sonia-OSullivan

Sonia O’Sullivan

Sonia O’Sullivan is Ireland’s most successful track athlete. In 1994 she won GOLD in the 3000 metres in the European Championships. In 1995 she won the Gold in the World Championships 5000 metres. In 1998 she won the World Cross-Country Championships and the European Championships. She also is the Dublin Marathon Winner in 2000. Sonia competed at four Olympic Games and won silver at the Sydney Olympic Games.

John Treacy

In 1978 and 1979 John Treacy won the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Glasgow and Limerick respectively. In the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, he placed ninth in the 10,000-metre final before crowning his athletics career with a silver medal in the men’s marathon. He finished 1st in 1992 Los Angeles Marathon.

Fionnuala Britton

Fionnuala Britton has competed for Ireland in the 3,000 metres steeplechase, 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters and the Marathon at European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games. She was the gold medallist at the 2011 and 2012 European Cross Country Championships. In December 2012, Britton became the first woman to successfully defend the European Cross Country Championship.
